Baritone Powell Brumm has been lauded for his "lovely timbre and good presence" (Parterre Box) for his presentation of Lionel in Tchaikovsky's Maid of Orleans with Russian Opera Workshop. A native of Tucson, Arizona, Mr. Brumm has brought his natural flair for drama to roles such as Belcore in Donizetti's L'elisir d'amore alongside Mario Chang and Andriana Chuchman with Festival Napa Valley, Figaro in Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro and Peter Quince in Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream with the University of Southern California, and Jupiter (Orphée aux enfers) and Collatinus (The Rape of Lucretia) with the University of Arizona. Most recently, Mr. Brumm has brought his incisive wit and cunning to the roles of Don Alfonso and Guglielmo side-by-side in Mozart’s Così fan tutte with the University of Missouri - Kansas City, and Prince Yamadori in Madama Butterfly with Opera West! in Santa Fe. Mr. Brumm is completing his artist certificate at the University of Missouri - Kansas City under the tutelage of Maria Kanyova. He has also received a Master of Music from the University of Southern California, and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Arizona.
